Important Teachings from the Philosophy Of Life

, 10:54 - Permalink

Philosophy of Life is a series of lectures given by a modern Hellene, legendary, philologist, Ioannes Sykoutres, around 1930. Foreign scholars wrote that modern Hellas met a second presence from ancient Hellas, meaning him. He was a professor at the university of Athens and he studied at the Universities of Athens, Berlin and Leipzig, entering the circle of Willamowitz and Jaeger. He founded philological societies for students, writers and professors and the school Askraios. He also participated in any attempt of bringing the ancient and the modern civilization to the surface.

This article has not any real connection with the Goddess, but it shows from the eyes and the mind of a philosopher, how we should think about life and how to be a hero of life, if we chose that role. In the text that follows, I have chosen the main teachings based on his book "The Philosophy of Life", divided in categories. His philosophy seems to be heavily influenced by the stoic philosophy (expect an article soon).

The Illusive Goddess

, 14:29 - Permalink

The following article is going to make some people mad, cause them mania to the point that they may even want to hit their screen. It is not suitable for people who base their practices and ideas regardings the cult of Hekate, on illusive personal gnosis, feelings, channelings, New Age ideas etc. Hopefully, the readers of this blog base their practices on well documented historical and archaeological facts. Those readers, our readers, may continue reading. They others are kindly requested to exit that page, as it will get them upset.

Really, not few times I read online, in fora, groups, blogs, websites information about the Goddess Hekate, which are not true. In fact, they do not come from any book, research, ancient depiction or any other kind of real source. Most of the times, the writers of those texts have a group of supporters, who they have read the blog, the book or they have taken a step forward on exercising with those new information on their daily devotional work. Even new non traditional "traditions” have been born out of this kind of new information. Most of the times, when I write an ancient source proving that things are not like that, or when I ask for sources, they block me or tell me things like evolution. Evolution on what? I prefer being old fashioned. katakouzinos_meme.jpg

Starting the Connection with the Goddess

, 03:19 - Permalink

A question that I had when I was beginning to establish a stronger connection with the Goddess Hekate, was "how can I do it?" I was invoking the Goddess inside the circle, I knew the necessary mythology about Her, a big part of it I had read in Witchcraft books. When I felt the calling from Her, I saw this matter of connection more seriously. Well, I couldn't avoid it. The Goddess was communicating with me, there was no way not to see the signs. I liked that She wanted to work with me. I tried to do some things and I also asked for guidance of my friend Katerina, who was also a devotee. One of the things I did, was to read, to study, to search about Her. And from that starting point, I made a secure ground for building a safe and strong relationship.
